Release the Kraken

Release the Kraken was a public event celebrating the official launch of the Kraken esports organisation at the University of Agder. Designed to engage students, staff, and the broader community, the event blended entertainment with institutional visibility, showcasing the potential of esports within an academic context.

The event featured a range of interactive gaming experiences, including arcade machines, VR stations, and bounty challenges where attendees could play against Kraken members. A highlight of the day was a main stage showmatch between Kraken players and a team of university staff, creating an engaging and competitive atmosphere.

The programme also included a talk by Rune Andersen, course leader of the Academic Esports programme, as well as representatives from Gard AS, the official sponsor of Kraken. Their contributions helped underscore the connection between esports, education, and industry.

As Project Manager, I was responsible for the full planning, organisation, and execution of the event—from concept development and logistics to scheduling, equipment setup, and team coordination. The event was a strong success, raising the visibility of the Kraken brand and reinforcing the collaborative potential between students, faculty, and sponsors.
