Retro City 2024

Retro City 2024 is an annual expo celebrating the history and culture of retro gaming. As part of the Academic Esports programme at the University of Agder, we were invited to take part and contribute to the event’s atmosphere with a dedicated stand and vintage gaming equipment.
I was responsible for overseeing our entire section, managing the planning and execution of our presence. This included coordinating participating students, setting up schedules and shifts, organising the stand layout, and ensuring the smooth transport and setup of retro arcade machines and other equipment.
In addition to logistics, I ensured media production and coverage were handled effectively, capturing our contribution to the event and maintaining visibility for both the programme and the university. Our stand served not only as an interactive attraction but also as a showcase of how academic esports connects with gaming history and public engagement.
Our presence was well-received, contributing to the overall atmosphere of the expo and reinforcing our role as both educators and active members of the gaming community.
